This is the fifth article in my Blogging For Profit series titled How To Monitize Your Blog. Recent articles have discussed how to drive free traffic to your blog. What good is having traffic to your site if you have nothing for them to buy?
The first possibility to generate income from your blogging efforts utilizes Google's Adsense program. My first blog using Adsense generated any where from $75-$150 a month. It is not a huge amount of money but helped defray some of the cost of running the blog (auto responders, blog hosting, etc). If you have been around the Internet very long, you have seen the Adsense ads on many websites or blogs. Adsense ads are all of the ads you see on many web sites and blogs. They usually pertain to the topic of the site you are visiting. If a reader of your blog clicks on an ad on your blog, you make a few cents per click. Those clicks add up.
How Does Adsense Work? Actually, adsense is pretty simple. People who want to advertise with Adsense have put those ads for you to see. They agree to pay you a few cents for each click. Google is the intermediary.
How Do I Set Up An Adsense Account? Setting up an Adsense account is very simple. Go to www.google.com/adsense and fill out the sign up now. Follow the instructions on getting relevant ads to your blog. Sit back and see how much you make.
Pros and Cons Of Adsense
The pro from Adsense is that it cost you nothing to implement. The person who is putting the ad on your blog pays the cost.
The only major con of Adsense is the fact that when you put an ad from someone else on your blog, they may navigate away from your blog to someone else's site, paying you pennies while someone else makes the lions share of commissions.
Clickbank Affiliate Program
Clickbank has been around for years. Many people who have various e-products sell them through Clickbank. To offer Clickbank products go to www.clickbank.com and sign up for a new account. Then go to the "Marketplace" area at the top of the website and look for a product in your niche area. Here are a couple of things to look for:
1. Look for a product that has a gravity of greater than 100. Gravity is the way Clickbank uses gravity to tell you how popular that product is. That is not to say that you cannot make money with gravity less than 100, but you want a product that is currently popular.
2. Look for a product that pays you anything more than $30 per sale. That information is located at the bottom left of the listing - $/sale/
3. Go to the "pitch page" and look over how the product is presented. Do you like what you see? Is it appealing? Does it make you want to buy?
4. Finally, click on "create a hoplink" to make a link with your Clickbank information in it. Then use the information I wrote about in my article #3 about embedding a link on your blog.
These are just a couple of ways to bring in some income from your blogging efforts. The main thing is that you just get started. Once you get going, just continue to repeat, over and over. You will be amazed how fast your income will grow.
Good luck!
